K.I.T Worker

K.I.T. stands for Keep In Touch.

The primary aim of the K.I.T. Worker is to keep in touch with people who normally are not able to come to church or to get around as much as other people. Originally this meant the elderly, but now encompasses everybody. I have been K.I.T. Worker for 10 years now and before me Marilyn Foulder was the first K.I.T. Worker.

The K.I.T. Worker’s duties include:

  • Picking up pensions
  • Organising the Visiting Team
  • Organising the Home Communion Team
  • Visiting people in hospital
  • Arranging for others to visit people in hospital
  • Visiting the housebound
  • Taking people shopping or doing their shopping for them.

Organising the LINC, a meeting place that is open each Wednesday during term time, in which snacks and light lunches are served for the community as a whole. Organising lifts for people who are unable to get there of their own accord. We also have large lunches at Easter, Summer, Harvest and Christmas – for around 80 people. We feel that we are providing a place where people can meet, interact and also eat delicious home made food at bargain prices!
