Paul greets Edna and Hazel
We thank St Mary's verger, Edna, with flowers, as she retires after years of dedication to Him. Hazel takes on a new St Mary's role as verger and site manager and welcomes any suggestions for a job title as the present one is too long! Hazel's first request is for more cleaners to help on Saturday mornings as the Church has major internal work done to the walls.

Messy Fireworks

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Our 3rd L19: Messy Church brought 150 all ages together on a Saturday tea-time to explore messy bright & light crafts such as candle decorating and chocolate fountain dips. After a messy time together we walked down to church so that the Messy Cooks could transform the church hall into a dining room. In church we heard about Jesus being the Light of the World and children ‘changed’ their candle lights and then we went into the church gardens to see how bright a light we could shine for Jesus by watching fireworks. The church hall beckoned with the smell of sausage and mash and everyone sang Messy Birthday to those with November birthdays. The next L19: Messy Church is Messy Christmas on Saturday 6th December 4pm-6pm starting in the church hall. See you there!

Alternative to Halloween

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

Children enjoyed games, food and crafts at St Mary’s Light Night Party as an alternative to Halloween. Bright clothes and happy faces were the order of the night instead of black clothes and scary faces. Jesus’ message is that He wants us to have lots of light in our lives and not to be dragged down by darkness and fear. What better light is there than the light of Christ, who brings light to all dark places.
