Christian Aid works through thousands of local churches, community groups and organisations to meet the needs of the poorest people in the world. It also works to tackle the root causes of poverty by asking supporters to campaign on issues like debt and unfair trade.
At, St. Mary's, the main fundraising is the May 'House to House' collection, which is very well supported with the help of St. Austin's and our congregation. In the past we have also held hunger lunches, which have helped raise awareness and a considerable amount of funding. Members of the congregation have also sponsored for fun runs.
The Sunday School and the young people have also been very good supporters of Christian Aid by holding concerts etc.
We welcome anyone who is interested in the work of Christian Aid or has any new ideas for fundraising.
